Akshara by Neurogati

Privacy Policy

Akshara is used by children, so this page is written to be read by the parent, guardian or teacher who looks after them. It says exactly what we record, why we record it, and how to get it removed.

Last updated 16 October 2026

In short: we record the child's name, age, class and school, a username, your name, email address and mobile number, and how the child does in each activity. If you pay, we also keep a payment record. Razorpay handles the payment details. We do not run advertising or sell family information.

Who we are

Akshara is a foundational learning platform built by Neurogati for children roughly aged three to ten, for use at home and in classrooms. In this policy “we” means Neurogati, and “you” means the adult responsible for the account.

Accounts are for adults to create

An Akshara account should be created by a parent, guardian or teacher — not by a child on their own. By creating an account you confirm you are an adult and that you are responsible for the child who will use it.

The child's name is private. It appears only inside your own account, as a greeting and on the progress report. Anything other learners can see uses the username you choose instead, and a username may not contain the child's real name.

What we record

We use account details, learning records, feedback, and, if you pay, payment records.

1. Account details, given when you sign up

  • Child's name — shown as a greeting and on the progress report, only inside your account.
  • Username — a nickname you choose. It is the only name other learners can ever see, so it may not contain the child's real name, and rude or misleading usernames are refused.
  • Age and class — so activities can be matched to the child's level.
  • School — it helps us understand which schools use Akshara.
  • Your name — the parent, guardian or teacher responsible for the account, so we know who we are dealing with.
  • Mobile number — only used to reach you about the account. We do not send text messages to it unless you choose to receive them.
  • Email address — used to sign in, verify the account and reset a forgotten password.
  • Password — handled by Amazon Cognito. It is stored only in a hashed form that cannot be reversed, and we never see it.

2. Learning activity, recorded while the child plays

  • Which activity was opened, and when it was started and finished.
  • For each question: the question, the answer the child chose, the correct answer, whether it was right, and how long the answer took.
  • Totals per activity: number of attempts, average score, best score, and whether the skill is being learned or has been mastered.

This is what makes the progress report work, and it is why the app can pick up where a child left off.

3. Payments, if you choose to buy access

  • Before checkout, we collect the paying adult's name, phone number, email, city, state and country. We store these with the payment record for receipts, support and payment administration. Name, phone and email are also sent to Razorpay to prefill its checkout; the city, state and country stay in our payment record.
  • We keep the order ID, payment ID, price, currency, payment status and dates needed to confirm access, resolve payment issues and handle refunds.
  • Razorpay collects the card, UPI or other payment details in its checkout. Akshara does not receive or store your card number or UPI PIN.

4. Feedback and support

If you send feedback in Akshara, we save your response with the account name and email so we can review it and reply. If you contact us by email, we use your message to help with the account, payment or question you raised.

What we do not do

  • No advertising. There are no ads anywhere in Akshara, and no ad networks.
  • No advertising analytics. We do not add advertising networks, analytics trackers or social media pixels to the learning activities. Razorpay loads its checkout only when you choose to pay.
  • No Akshara tracking cookies. Signing in stores a token in your browser so the child stays signed in. Razorpay may use its own technology during checkout, as explained in its privacy policy.
  • No camera, microphone or location. Akshara never asks for these and cannot access them.
  • No selling. We do not sell, rent or trade family information. We use service providers to run Akshara and, if you pay, to process that payment.

Typefaces are bundled with the app rather than fetched from Google while the child plays, so visiting Akshara does not tell a font provider anything about them.

Payment provider

Razorpay processes payments on our behalf. Its checkout receives the information you enter there, and we provide your account email and order details so it can complete the transaction. Razorpay has its own privacy policy for the payment information it handles. Our servers verify the order and payment status with Razorpay before granting access.

What stays on the device

Some things are kept in the browser itself rather than on our servers: the sign-in token, the name shown in the greeting, whether sound is muted, and a draft of any quiz that was left unfinished so it can be resumed. Signing out or clearing the browser's data removes all of it.

Where it is stored

Account details and learning records are stored on Amazon Web Services in the Mumbai region (ap-south-1), in India. The app itself is also served by Amazon Web Services, through AWS Amplify. It is an established provider acting on our instructions, and it does not use this information for its own purposes.

Traffic to and from Akshara is encrypted in transit. Access to the stored records is limited to the small number of people who maintain the service.

How long we keep it

Learning records are kept while the account is open, because their value is showing progress over months. If you ask us to delete the account, we remove the account details and the learning records associated with it.

Payment records may need to be kept after an account closes to handle refunds, disputes, accounting and legal obligations. Contact us if you want to know which records remain.

Seeing, correcting or deleting the data

You can ask us at any time to show you what is held about your child, correct it, or delete it entirely. Write to contactus@neurogati.com from the email address on the account and we will action it. You do not need to give a reason, and deleting the account is free.

Security

Passwords are managed by Amazon Cognito and never stored by us in a readable form. Sign-in attempts are rate-limited to make guessing impractical. Every request that reads or writes a child's progress is checked against the signed-in account, so one account cannot read another's records.

No service can promise perfect security. If something does go wrong in a way that affects you, we will tell you.

Changes to this policy

If we start collecting something new, or use it for something different, we will update this page and change the date at the top. Where the change is significant we will make it visible in the app rather than quietly amending the text.

Contact

For anything on this page, including a request to delete an account, write to contactus@neurogati.com. Our Terms of Use cover the rules for using Akshara itself.
